Don't Make A New Year's Resolution To Lose Weight!

JUST FOR TODAY:  Focus on what you DO want, not what you DON'T want.  Perhaps excess weight is what you don't want.  Or, you don't want an eating disorder.  What DO you want?  Happiness.  Health.  Balance.  Peace.  Confidence.  Make these qualities your resolution this year!

100 million Americans will start a new diet today.  95% of them will regain any weight they may lose.  Make this the year that you DON'T DIET – and you practice Intuitive Self-Care instead.  With this process, 95% of my clients accomplish the goals they set – to love the image in the mirror, to make peace with food, to overcome emotional eating, to move towards a life dream, to live one's best life.  What would it be like if you made these your resolutions?  You might not know how all of these goals will come to fruition.  Trust your intuition – the resources you need to succeed are here for you.  Happiness.  Health.  Balance.  Peace.  Confidence.  Start the New Year with these qualities as your resolution, and let weight loss or eating disorder recovery be the outcome of these goals!

  1. Dorie, looks like we have similar opinions on making New Year's Resolutions to lose weight and get in shape. I think too many people place too much emphasis on the calendar as their guiding light, instead of completing a full decision cycle. Many fail to properly prepare to meet their goals and as a result, thye abandon their resolution after only 6 weeks. Whether it's diet or exercise, people need to fully realize the Transtheoretical Model to achieve their results.
